  • A refreshing start...

Yes, that’s me above, diving! At an early age I became a diver. Whilst competitions could be terrifying, anxiety inducing and exhilarating, the sport gave me so much more in terms of skills, opportunities, experiences and life lessons to cope with all the twists and turns to come. It connected me to a sense of wellbeing that still resonates today. It inspired my logo and I hope it inspires that same free spirit in you too.

  • A forensic touch...

At the age of 21, I moved to London to pursue a career as a criminal barrister and I quickly developed a fascination with mental health law within the criminal justice system. It is a journey that has never stopped. Even then mental health issues were widespread, neglected and affected people of every background, class, religion, gender or ethnicity. Now we know how important good mental health and wellbeing is to all of us to flourish as human beings. There is a certain commonality of needs that apply across the board to each and every one of us, but how do we meet them to lead a healthy happy life and reach our full potential? So, quite early in my career, I was already wondering: what were the underlying causes of these mental health issues? A burning desire to understand how to cultivate and maintain good mental health and wellbeing grew into a passion.

  • A deep dive...

I had a thirst to know more. So I took a deep dive into the real world of legal, medical and social services interactions in the field of mental health. With this came a far greater understanding of the people affected by mental health issues, and the systems they had to navigate to get help or more often, cope without it. I wrote a practitioner’s guide to mental health, worked with the Mental Health Act Commission and presided over Mental Health Review Tribunals.

I was also appointed as Queen’s Counsel (now King’s Counsel), with my mental health work being integral to my court practice over many years. When the Queen died after a lifetime of service, it was particularly poignant to pay my respects in the same Westminster Hall where I was appointed as one of Her Majesty’s Queen’s Counsel.

  • Human Givens...

I discovered the Human Givens approach to mental health and wellbeing. It made such an impact on me that I embarked on the rigorous HG Diploma course and I became fully accredited.

At its core, ‘Human Givens’ are the essential needs and resources we require to thrive and get the best out of life, whatever our background and circumstances. WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING

“I was very impressed by the way Annette took care to arrange wellbeing sessions around the needs and schedules of my employees, while keeping everything entirely confidential and relaxed.”

- Company Director (B Corp status)

“I recently went through a dark experience being bullied by another barrister. It made me question whether I was good enough to be part of the profession and was really struggling. Annette helped me overcome the challenges I faced and supported me through the issues that had arisen. I will be forever grateful”

- A professional client

“Throughout our sessions together, Annette provided me with practical tools to manage stressful situations and rebuild my resilient attitude towards them. She was always empathetic, non-judgmental, and most importantly, was never patronising in her approach, which is something that is often hard to find in counselling and/or coaching fields.”

- A professional client

“Annette is completely authentic, has a wealth of experience and the ability to relate to all sides involved in any situation, which is invaluable. Where there is a solution she will help you not only find it, but embrace it.”

- A professional management committee

“Anette’s support, and work to support the harmonious care of my client, has meant that all aspects of her life have been taken into consideration. Anette is excellent at being able to analyse every aspect, take all relevant information, and come up with solutions. One of her strengths lies in her ability to hear others, understand their concerns, and be able to address them objectively. It’s a pleasure to work alongside her.”

- Lead co-ordinator of complex care package

“There is so much to say about how Annette helped me. I found her so easy to talk to, she immediately made me feel relaxed and confident to talk to, I did not feel any judgement from her. I could talk to her about things I have always felt closed off from. Her advice and support helped me so much in a short time. She gave me tips and advice that actively help me. Nothing is too much trouble, she is extremely patient, compassionate and her empathy towards me made me feel like an individual not a number in a book. I would highly recommend her to everyone.”

- A private client

“Annette really seemed to understand me. She gave me practical strategies to feel less stressed during my exams and to cope if I did get a migraine. This definitely helped, as I’d suffered badly during my mocks, but I didn’t during the actual exams.”

- A private client

“I recently had the pleasure of working with Annette during a period of my life when I felt largely broken from a long stressful career that was impacting me both physically and mentally. Annette has a deep understanding of toxic environments and their impact on mental health. Her knowledge and expertise in this area were evident from our very first session, as she helped me navigate the complex dynamics of my workplace and the toll it was taking on my well-being”

- Business analyst

“Annette is so wonderful and has such a warm openness about her. She helped me articulate and process my thoughts and come up with a clear action plan to move forward.
